Help us improve the environment for maternity patients
With your support we can complete the much needed refurbishment of three rooms in our maternity unit. House of Grey interior design studio are generously supporting the project by providing their design service free of charge. Now we need your donations to complete the renovations and fit each room out with new furniture and equipment.
Internationally known for their signature aesthetic, the team at House of Grey have worked tirelessly to create calming, restorative and sustainable designs that will be transformational for patients and staff.
This project will set a new benchmark for the standard of environments across the Trust. But to bring House of Grey’s designs to life, we need your support.
Ilana, Consultant Midwife, said, “Experiencing problems during pregnancy is stressful and we aim to support women and birthing people and make sure they are safe. When experiencing miscarriage, loss, or an unexpected result, it’s important that we have a comfortable, welcoming and safe place for patients and their partners to be counselled and supported. This project will be transformational for our patients”.
The counselling room in the early pregnancy unit is used by parents who receive difficult news about their pregnancy. Perhaps their pregnancy sadly isn’t viable, or their unborn child has been diagnosed with a serious illness. These families deserve a comfortable and safe space where they can process the news, receive counselling to help them come to terms with the diagnosis, and rest privately.
The staff room on the labour ward is a quiet place away from the busy ward where staff can take a break, rest and prepare food. This multi-functional space will be restful but functional and durable. With modular seating, a dining space and kitchen area, the new design will help staff to relax and switch off, returning to the ward restored and refreshed.
The family room provides a tranquil, dedicated space for families with very sick babies requiring dedicated round-the-clock care in our neonatal intensive care unit. During this time, parents and siblings need to remain at the hospital for days and weeks on end, for hours at a time. The refurbished family room will be a welcoming, homely space, suitable for adults and children to spend time on site, close to their baby.
Louisa, founder of House of Grey, said “Each year, House of Grey selects and innovative project to support, where we can enhance lives through design and provide our services free of charge. The hospital is at the heart of the community and somewhere each of our studio members have visited, stayed or had their children, and now it’s time for us to give back to this integral institution”.
