Heidi, Doctor, Clinical Lead for Emergency Paediatrics

Charitable support has affected us in lots of ways:

We received funding to make a small animation film based on drawings done by the team to help us process the events of the pandemic.

I think there was a huge impact with the hot meals deliveries, which uplifted us during a very dark time. The Charity has helped to supply vending fridges stocked with good quality, healthy meals to the Trust, so we now have 24-hour access to good food which has really improved the experience of the staff.

I also received funding for a communications course. Working with airline industry volunteers I learned from cabin crew how to improve the patient and staff experience. This has permanently changed how the Emergency Paediatrics department operates.

“We’re always incredibly grateful for the support from donors. It’s hugely touching that people do think of us. Times are hard for everybody, so the thought that people are giving up time or money or skills and thinking of us, and thinking it’s worthwhile to improve our experience of work is hugely touching. Whittington Health is part of the community. Having a relationship with our community that want to improve the atmosphere and environment in the hospital and in the health centres is really important."
